Research Themes

To support the delivery of the Centre’s vision, our research areas of expertise are focused into five key Research Themes, allowing for multidisciplinary integration into shared research objectives and nurturing cross-Centre collaboration. Click a tile below to find out more about our work in each Theme.

Cancer Prevention & Risk Reduction

Through carefully co-ordinated clinical trials, our researchers work to deliver validated interventions for reducing the risk of cancer, meanwhile aiming to more accurately identify individuals at high risk of developing particular cancers.

Cancer Screening & Early Diagnosis

Our researchers work to deliver validated interventions for reducing the risk of cancer, meanwhile aiming to more accurately identify individuals at high risk of developing particular cancers.

Genetics & Evolution of Cancer

Understanding the genetic basis of cancer has helped us to identify the precise mechanisms that underpin disease, helping us to track the progressively aggressive evolution of some cancers in response to treatment.

Targeting Tumour Cells

From revealing new insights into basic cell biology to realising new therapeutic strategies that target malignant cells with precision, our laboratory research will continue to explore innovative therapeutic options, some of which have already reached clinical trials.

Targeting the Tumour Microenvironment

Combined efforts to target non-malignant cells in the immediate tumour vicinity have led to significant advances in our ability to control a tumour's growth. We will continue to exploit novel molecular mechanisms underpinning essential elements of the TME.
